Title: SOME REMARKS ON LINGUISTIC SUBJECTIVITY

Abstract: The present paper aims to analyze the speech, from the perspective of subjectivity in language, as the subject of an utterance almost always leaves traces in that utterance. Which are the linguistic indicators of subjectivity in a discourse, and how can we identify them? In other words, we are asking ourselves what does a speaker openly say, what does he or she allow to be understood, what do they demonstrate through their speech, and what do they allow to be seen—deliberately or not—from their inner selves. First, we will attempt to present various interpretations of the idea of subjectivity in language, ideas belonging to the most significant linguistic works on enunciation. Next, we will discuss deixis which has the significant responsibility of transforming language into speech (we will mention personal pronouns and demonstratives here). In order to ultimately discuss explicit /vs/ implicit subjectivity, we will briefly go through the parts of speech with a subjective feature (subjective nouns, subjective adjectives, subjective verbs, and subjective adverbs). As a main support of our work we drew on C. Kerbrat Orecchioni’s theory on subjectivity in language, as well as on some of the most significant works on enunciation from the 19th century.

Keywords: deixis, subjectivity in language, speech and discourse.

Title: LEECH’S POLITENESS MAXIMS AND THEIR HIERARCHY IN HINDI AND PERSIAN: A PRAGMATIC STUDY OF POLITENESS

Abstract:The paper is concerned with some aspects of politeness in the request act by the pragmatic connotations of syntactic structures in Hindi and Persian. Considering the role of politeness as an explanation for the deviation from the Grice’s cooperative principle, the main question of the paper is whether Leech’s maxims of politeness operate on the syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations and whether there is any hierarchy in their manner of application. To answer the abovementioned question the main hypothesis of the research posits that Leech’s maxims of politeness have a structure of hierarchy in both Persian and Hindi. Considering the Pandharipandes’ (1979) hierarchy of the degree of politeness proposed for Hindi, this paper aims to develop a similar hierarchy of the degree of politeness for Persian and to analyze the Leech’s maxims operating in the respective hierarchies of politeness. The general theoretical framework adopted for the present study is based on Lakoff (1972), and Leech (1980). Whereas the findings of this research indicate a hierarchy in Hindi and Persian at the syntagmatic planewith regard to their respective Leech’s maxims,no such hierarchyis detectable for paradigmatic relationwhichholds good for all types of social situations.

Title: THE DIDACTISATION OF THE SONG IN THE LEARNING OF FRENCH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES AT THE INSTITUTE OF MAINTENANCE AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY (IMSI) UNIVERSITY ORAN 2 MOHAMED BEN AHMED

Abtract: The linguistic situation of French in Algeria has been in serious decline. However, despite the devaluing clichés, as the language of the coloniser, compared to Arabic, which has received considerable support since the reform of Arabisation (1976), the French language persists and is widely used in society. In addition, its use in administration and education has gained momentum, especially with the reform (2010) which gives it a prominent place in official texts as the first foreign language, a language of discovery and development. Without question, the socio-historical dimension in Algeria has meant that French has become the language of technical and scientific education in Algerian universities. As a consequence, as a teacher, we have observed that university students in technical fields have difficulties in achieving communicative competence in the context of teaching/learning French with specific objective.

Title: WORD FORMATION – USING SUFFIXES AND IDENTIFYING DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING NEWLY-FORMED WORDS

Abstract: Word formation is a chapter of the English grammar which requires specific attention not only due to its complexity in forming new words, but also in terms of a variety of means by which it is expressed. Whether it is affixation, composition or derivation, the phenomenon is worth analyzing in order to understand the mechanisms of word formation. Therefore, the work under study aims to reveal the way our mental lexicon accesses thousands of words and word combinations for which we need a lot of linguistic skillfulness. At the same time, the study also focuses on potential difficulties that students meet in relation to the coinage or acquisition of new words which they use in everydaycontexts.

Title: ARGUMENTATIVE TEXTS COMPREHENSION IN FOURTH YEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASS : LANGUAGE TEACHING TRANSFER TOWARD FRENCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract: This research raises the issue of the learning transfer from Arabic to the French in the argumentative texts comprehension marked with linear integration markers among fourth year middle school learners. Our classroom experimentation has shown that following an Arabic language course focused on this type of text and becoming aware of it, andseems to provide learners in the experimental group with new tools for regulating reading (comprehension), ensuring a certain level of efficiency and transfer that learners in the control group lack.

Title: READING COMPREHENSION IN THE 4TH YEAR MSSCHOOL TEXTBOOKS. COMPARATIVE STUDY (G1 VS G2)

Abstract: In this contribution,we have tried to carry out a comparative study between the activity of reading/comprehension in the textbook of the middle 4th year of the first generation (G1) and that of the second generation (G2). In fact, through a comparative analysis between the two textbooks and a questionnaire sent to teachers, we seek to identify whether the 2G textbook is indeed part of a cognitive approach in a bi-multilingual Algerian context and therefore: does – it take into account the learners’ achievements in the mother tongue in the process of constructing meaning during the reading/comprehension activity? As we suppose that the themes addressed in the 2G textbook would allow learners to better access the meaning of a text written in French as a foreign language.

Title: FOR AN INTERCULTURAL APPROACH OF THE LITERARY TEXT IN THE FRENCH CLASS IN ROMANIA: TOWARDS A TELECOLLABORATIVE DYNAMIC

Abstract: In this article, we will reflect on the importance of integrating the intercultural dimension through the reading of literary texts written in French by non-native Francophones, knowing that this kind of texts is experiencing a certain decline in the French class in a Romanian educational system. The intercultural approach in the field of language teaching is currently considered one of the priorities of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This is one of the reasons that motivated the descriptive analysis that we relate in the present work aimed on the one hand at the intensification of bilateral relations between two French-speaking audiences distinct by their cultural affiliation but linked by the common interest which is brought to the French language with different objectives. We will try to highlight the didactic tracks that we will propose to better elucidate the interconnection of the two audiences of Algerian and Romanian learners and teachers via a digital intercultural telecollaboration device.

Title: LINGUISTIC CHARACTERISTICS AND SPECIFIC TERMINOLOGY IN THE FIELD OF ELECTRIC CARS

Abstract: In this article, we shall focus on the difficulties encountered by the students in Applied Modern Languages during their courses of Specialized Languages or Specialized Translation, when the discourse of the specialized fields becomes an object of study. We will examine the use of certain grammatical categories and consider some of the aspects that regard terminological multiplication in a corpus of research articles from the field of electric cars. Our aim is to demonstrate that, as in all the specialized languages, the particularities in the use of the more or less technical terminology related to electric cars depends on the communicative context and the relation between the transmitter (the author of the article) and the receiver (the reader).

Key words: specialized language, didactic valorization, terminological creativity, metaphoric value.

Title: THE EXTENSIVE AND COHESIVE READING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract: The purpose of our paper is to highlight that extensive and cohesive reading has an important role to play in EFL learning. Extensive reading broadens and increases the students’ vocabulary exposing them to various registers of the target language. Cohesion refers to the relations of meaning that exist within the text and that define it as a text. The teacher can help the students use various cohesive chains, which form the backbones of different types of texts. He also needs to monitor each student’s reading and offer guidance and encouragement. Besides, the selection of the reading material should be appropriate to the learners’ linguistic level and their cultural particulars.

Key-words: extensive reading, effective communication, cohesive chains, teacher’s guidance, sources, selection of reading materials.
